Kerik Kouklis Kerik Kouklis lives and works in Placerville, California. Although his work can be generally described as “landscape photography,” it is quite different from traditional landscape genre. His photographs are often subtle and thoughtful and are seldom dramatic. He frequently shoots in fog or very low light, giving many of his images an ethereal quality. For most of his work, Kerik uses an array of view cameras that range from 4” x 5” up to 12” x 20”. He mainly uses platinum/palladium printing techniques, but he has also incorporated the use of wet plate collodion printing as of late. The key aspects to the latter printing process are that the plate is coated, sensitized, exposed, and developed all while the plate is wet. Therefore, Kerik uses a portable darkroom that consists of a truck with a camper on it when shooting on location.

Along with Photographers' Gallery, Kerik Kouklis is represented by galleries in Yosemite National Park, Denver, Colorado, and Boca Raton, Florida. His images have been included in over forty juried, group and individual exhibits over the past few years. His work is also in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas.
