About his work:
Monn`s architectural pictures can be classified into three different groups that are all open-end projects and worked on simoultaniously.
1. A-Symmetry: classical architectural photography
2. Candela: focus on specific details in architecture that are often overlooked.
3. Fragmente: composition of symmetric montages
The key factor in his architectural photography is the overall composition of each image, with particular elements such as perspective, symmetry and structure playing an important role.
Breaking away from the traditional architectural photography norm, in his Candela series, he captures the essence of a building by highlighting specific detailed fragments of the general structure. These largely abstract images are composed of graphical and linear elements, as well as forms created by contrasts of light and darkness.
In his Fragmente series Monn doesn't simulate real room situations but creates futuristic looking imaginary spaces.
